"Crown Lamp"
This lamp was created as a goof, during one of my sillier moods.
The year I decided to dress as Glinda the Good Witch for Halloween
I needed a crown to complement my costume, so I made a glass crown,
which is the bottom of the lamp. Unfortunately, it was a bit too big
for my head, so not wanting to waste my efforts I decided to
add to the crown and create a lamp shade for a base
I liked, which had a most ordinary shade.
Dimensions: 18"H x 12"W
shade only
"Fractured Glass Lamp"
This lamp was created after a memory of a similar
lamp style from my childhood. I remembered strips
of glass soldered together to form tubes that were
illuminated from within. The glass used is recycled. It is
created by placing glass chips and stringers on the surface
of a clear sheet of glass and then firing everything
so the surface pieces fuse onto the clear sheet.Dimensions: 20"H x 12"Diameter
shade only
"Grape Leaf Lamp"
This grape leaf lamp took exactly 150 hours to make. I used a traditional grape leaf design but tried a fresh shape that I haven't seen in lampshades. The tree trunk base completes the picture! The photo on the left gives you a good idea of the translucent quality of the glass when back lit . The photo on the right gives a fair indication of how the lamp looks unlit, with the glass appearing denser. The blue glass used to represent the sky peeking through the grape leaves is more visible in the right hand photo.
Dimensions: 24"H x 10"W x 10"D
shade plus brass base
